Sports Speaker Megan Rapinoe is an American professional soccer player who currently plays midfield for the Seattle Reign FC in the National Women’s Soccer League which formed in 2013. Megan is well-known as a member of the U.S. Women’s National team and was a member of the USWNT that won the Gold Medal in the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London. Megan is also recognized as the first male or female player in history to score a direct, untouched goal (Goal Olimpico) on a corner kick in the 2012 Olympic Games. Her now famous cross to forward Abby Wombach for a goal in the 122nd minute of the FIFA Women’s World Cup quarterfinal match against Brazil helped lift the team to victory and an eventual silver medal in the tournament.
