American soccer player who currently plays for Utah Royals FC in the National Women's Soccer League and is also a member of the United States women's national soccer team. She previously played for FC Kansas City, Boston Breakers and Philadelphia Independence of the WPS.

AMY RODRIGUEZ Biography

 

As a member of the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team, Sports Speaker Amy Rodriguez started her career when she attended the University of Southern California and played for the USC Trojans. As a junior, she led the Trojans to the NCAA Championship and she finished her career at USC ranked 4thall time in goals and points.

Amy Rodriguez then signed to play with the West Coast FC of the WPS. She went on to compete for the United States in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing where she and the US women’s Olympic soccer team won the Gold medal. After the Olympics, she was signed to the Boston Breakers then went to the Philadelphia Independence where she was named WPS Player of the Month for June 2010.

Rodriguez went on to play as a forward for the US Women’s Soccer team in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. As a substitute, Amy played in four matches and helped her team to win another Olympic Gold medal. She currently plays for the FC Kansas City club of the National Women’s Soccer League.

Earlier in her career, Amy appeared in two FIFA youth championships and the 2005 Nordic Cup in Sweden. She was named Gatorade Player of the Year in 2005 and is tied with Debbie Keller for the second most goals off the bench in United States women’s national team history. Amy Rodriguez joins fellow female professional soccer players Natasha Kai and Leslie Osborne as the only three women in America to hold sponsorship deals with Puma.
